Humna Khawaja (She/Her)

President, Soprano 1

I am a senior majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience. I am in a sorority called Theta Phi Alpha sorority, I work at Shadyside Hospital and am an assistant researcher at a Psychology lab here at Pitt!

What TCE means to me?

I love the feeling of hearing harmonies that we worked so hard to perfect. Coming to rehearsal with all my fellow singers makes my day.

Kaitlyn Clougherty (She/Her)

Vice President, Student Director, Soprano 1 Section Leader

I’m a Pittsburgh native in my fourth year as a double major in theatre arts, with a design/tech/management focus and music, on a vocal performance track, where I study with Richard Teaster. In addition to being the Vice President and Student Director of TCE, I also am a Soprano 1 Section Leader, and the Head Librarian of the choir! On campus, I serve as the Vice-Chair for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) @PITT club, and I currently work on campus as a Dietrich School Ambassador, with Pitt Stages as a House Manager, and in the First-Year Programs department as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. Off-campus, I work at City Theatre as a House Manager, sing in the Trinity Cathedral Choir, and teach private voice lessons. I also sing as a member of the Hamlisch-Page Student Choir with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, with the Pittsburgh-area treble choir Belle Voci, and its subset a cappella group Solo Voci.

What TCE means to me?

I love having a space where I can de-stress by singing with my friends and creating beautiful music as a group! Being in choir gives us so many opportunities, including traveling (our Toronto tour was my first time out of the country!), meeting new friends, and having a space that I can feel that I can be myself, and I hope to share that with all our members!

Madelyn Shaw (She/Her)

Business Manager, Alto 1 Section Leader

I’m a fifth year industrial engineering student from Greensboro, NC with minors in bioengineering and theatre arts, and am pursuing a certificate in innovation, product design, and entrepreneurship. Outside of classes and TCE, I also work as a Dance Company Artist with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet and am a member of Pitt’s Club Equestrian Team.

What TCE means to me?

TCE has been a place to shut out the outside world and focus on music and community. It’s brought amazing friends and allowed me to grow through tours to Toronto and Nashville, outreach performances in our Pittsburgh community and campus, and weekly rehearsals to connect with each other through music!

Julia Ferranti (She/Her)

I am a Senior Theatre Arts major pursuing a Nonprofit Management Certificate from Pittsburgh. Outside of TCE, I also serve as Chair for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) @PITT club and Tech Coordinator for the Musical Theatre Club. I work on campus with Pitt Stages as a Scenic Artist and House Manager.

What TCE means to me?

TCE is a welcoming space where I can learn and grow as a vocalist, and my appreciation for music has only grown since joining. I have made so many wonderful friends and memories that I will cherish forever. There is a strong sense of community within the choir that makes us work better together. Going to rehearsal every Monday and Wednesday and getting to make music makes my day better each time.

Francesca De La Vega (She/Her)

Fundraising Co-Chair, Alto 2

I am a freshman from Breinigsville, PA majoring in Pre-Education! Through being enrolled in the CASE program at Pitt, the goal is to receive my masters in Early Childhood Education after five years. Outside of TCE, I take private voice lessons with Lauren Upchurch at the university and enjoy daily walks with my friend as well as exploring the city!

What TCE means to me?

I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, so it’s really neat to have a space where similar people share that same experience. It’s also a great experience knowing it’s one of the least stressful parts about my day, and it’s a time where I can just relax and be myself. Making music with all the talented people beside me has been one of my favorite experiences at Pitt so far.

What TCE means to me?

For me, this ensemble has always been a place where I can relax and make music with a wonderful group of people. It has always been a very welcoming place for me from the moment I joined, so I never once felt like I did not belong. Every moment I have spent in the ensemble has been priceless.
